Ed was born and raised in the great state of Texas so it’s not uncommon to hear some southern slang slip though in his conversation and sermons. He has also lived in the great states of Missouri, Kansas, and Hawaii where the Lord allowed some wonderful ministry opportunities, which includes serving as pastor of Harvest Bible Fellowship.
Ed has a great love for Christian education, having served as the dean of men at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO, the principle of a Christian school in Topeka, and the director of education for Lanakila Baptist Schools in Hawaii. His education includes a Th.G. and B.A. in Bible and Theology from Baptist Bible College, an M.A. in Biblical Counseling, and an M.Div. (Master of Divinity) from Baptist Bible Graduate School of Theology. He has completed all but his dissertation for his D.Min. (Doctor of Ministry) from Dallas Seminary in Dallas, TX.
Ed also volunteers as an adjunct professor for Baptist Bible College-Ukraine, as a chaplain at the Harper County jail, and as president of the board for Prairie View Christian Camp in Arkansas City, KS.
Ed feels blessed to have had parents who served the Lord for over 50 years in church music ministry--their love for the Lord and for music has had a great influence in His life. He is grateful to have their experience and talents to draw from as they serve beside him in ministry at Harper Christian Church.
Ed enjoys watching KU basketball with his dad, playing golf, pheasant hunting, riding ATVs in Colorado, and tinkering with and using technology, especially when it furthers the message of Christ. But most of all, he enjoys time spent with parents and especially the love of his life, Julie. To find out more about her, read her bio below.
Julie Hughlett
Julie was also born in Texas, the daughter of an Air Force family. While she was still young, the family moved to Nebraska, where her parents were influential in the fight to make homeschooling legal in that state. She is the oldest of nine children, which helped grow her skills in keeping a home, time management, and loving others.
Julie graduated summa cum laude from Pensacola Christian College with a degree in communications with an emphasis on writing. Upon graduation she was offered a position with A Beka Book, the largest publisher of Christian school textbooks, where she enjoyed writing and editing books for high school students, specializing in geography, literature, English, and economics.
After moving back to Nebraska, Julie worked as a tech writer for a banking software company and later as a project manager for a company that develops websites for doctors. Pastor Ed and Julie married in 2018, and Julie continues to work remotely as a project manager.
Julie loves being part of the ministry of Harvest Bible Fellowship. She likes to connect with people, help with youth ministry, visit church members, and entertain in her home. She enjoys spending time with her husband, reading, cooking, baking, crocheting, caring for plants, playing piano, and trying out for Jeopardy!
